Teddyberas, ett band som står i morgonrockar och björnmasker på huvudet.

Teddybears

28 august, 20:15 Götaplatsen Scenen

Teddybears are known for their playful expression and genre‑defying music. With roots in hardcore punk and an approach inspired by hip hop, rock, pop, dancehall and electronic music, they have consistently followed their own path.

With curiosity, bass‑heavy swagger and a strong sense for immediate hooks, they have become a recurring name far beyond Sweden’s borders. Over the years, Teddybears have collaborated with artists such as Iggy Pop, Robyn, Neneh Cherry, The Flaming Lips and The B‑52’s.

Early in their career, the band began combining styles that around the turn of the millennium were rarely seen on the same stage. Rather than adapting, Teddybears have continued to develop their own sound, marked by playfulness and constant movement between genres.

To this day, few sound like them. With songs such as “Punkrocker”, “Hey Boy” and “Sunshine”, Teddybears continue to reach audiences in Sweden and internationally.

Their most recent album, Rock On (2018), is a hybrid of bass‑heavy dancehall, rock and electronic music. Recorded in Kingston, Stockholm and London, the album features unique collaborations with several Jamaican icons, including Beenie Man, Cutty Ranks and Ninja Man, as well as former Boyz N Da Hood member Gorilla Zoe. The album is a clear continuation of 2010’s Devil’s Music and cements Teddybears as one of Sweden’s most influential groups.
