The Mayor opens the doors and invites you inside the Börsen, a key site in the city’s political history and a grand representative building.

Join a guided tour with historical stories and music. The tour lasts around 20 minutes.

The building was inaugurated in 1849 and was one of Sweden’s most expensive construction projects at the time. Its façade is richly decorated with six allegorical zinc figures cast in Finspång. They represent Diligence, Fortune, Trade, Shipping, Wealth and Industry, created by sculptor C.G. Qvarnström.

Inside, you’ll find well-preserved decorations by ornamental painter F. Hagedorn and stucco artist Antonio Detoma. One highlight is the grand hall, featuring tiled stoves, decorated balconies, painted marble effects and ornate stucco details.

A major renovation of the building was completed in 2020.
