Our approach on sustainability
The Gothenburg city festival is a place where people come together, experience new things, and create memories. For us, sustainability is a natural part of being a good host – it’s about taking responsibility for the city, for one another, and for the future, while creating a truly great festival experience. Here you can read about our key focus areas in our sustainability work:
Joy and togetherness
At the Göteborgskalaset, everyone should feel welcome. We aim to create the conditions for anyone who wants to take part in the festival, regardless of who they are or where they come from. When people come together and enjoy themselves, something special happens. Through the festival, we build a sense of community, strengthen pride in our city, and help make Gothenburg feel a little warmer and more vibrant.
Local flavours and expressions
We celebrate what is grown and created close to home. That is why we give extra space to local flavours, the city’s own artists, and creative entrepreneurs. This not only makes the festival more exciting, but also fosters pride and supports growth across Gothenburg.
Care for the environment
We are working towards climate neutrality. We focus on simple but smart solutions, such as hiring instead of buying and reducing single-use items – so we can keep celebrating for many years to come.
Driving progress
We want sustainability to be a natural part of the experience. It is not just about talking – it is about doing. By testing new ideas in practice, we hope to inspire both visitors and partners. It is when sustainability is visible in what we do that we make the greatest difference.
