After nearly 20 years, it’s time for Gothenburg Culture Festival to take the next step. The festival has evolved in recent years, and now we want to find a name that reflects who we are today. What do you think we should be called?

The festival’s mission has broadened – we’re no longer primarily a culture festival, but rather a major celebration for all Gothenburgers. It’s a meeting place where we can hang out, eat, listen, have fun, and feel a sense of togetherness. Now we want to find a name that reflects exactly that.

Gothenburg Culture Festival is well known, but we’re aware that many people don’t feel included. That needs to change, because this festival is meant for all Gothenburgers.

That’s why we want to start in the right place: with you – whether you visit, take part, live here, or just love the celebration. What name do you think shows that we’re the great public festival for everyone in Gothenburg?

Submit your name suggestion

👉 Fill in the form here
Open until 7 December. Everyone is welcome to contribute – even if you live outside Gothenburg.

What happens next?

When the suggestion period ends, the festival organisation will go through all the submitted name proposals. We’ll weigh the pros and cons, and then make an overall assessment based on the mission and the bigger picture. The name should capture the feeling of the festival, reflect what it stands for, work in all contexts, and stand the test of time. The new name will be announced before Christmas.

How will this affect the festival?

A new name isn’t about removing anything – it’s about opening up and welcoming even more people. We’ll continue to offer music, dance, art, food, circus, workshops and other activities where people come together and share experiences.

Thank you for being part of Gothenburg’s great public celebration.💛
